The Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (Bhagavata Purana) is an epic-philosophical classic of Vedic literature comprising of 18,000 verses. The extensive work reveals all aspects of Vedic philosophy, religion, art and history in the form of fascinating stories, dialogues and parables. In addition, the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam contains a multitude of detailed records of a remarkably advanced civilization that flourished at a time well ahead of known history. It also contains amazingly precise statements for the present as well as for times that are still to come.

Those who have read the Bhagavad-gītā and want to deepen their knowledge will find the natural continuation in Srimad-Bhagavatam.
